Pull The Chain - Belgique Obscurcis Romancia hail from Quebec (the french speaking part of Canada) and churn out some very impressive, varied black death metal on their first album. After a strange «Prelude à la Nuit», both melodic and aggressive black metal music invade the room with «La Sombre Mélodie du Barde Noir», a tune which perfectly summarise the musical direction of the whole album. The melodic / atmospheric moments come across like Cradle Of Filth, Illnath or Old Man’s Child, in the way the guitar accelerations and gloomy breaks alternate in a dynamic but still complex manner. Just when you think, you’ve got their style understood, Obscurcis Romancia change its musical standard and deliver a grimmer old school touch. Singer Sylvain is sure to enjoy and impress those who enjoy Dani’ special trademark. « obscurcis Romancia» is fun as hell to listen to as all the songs recorded here sound energetic, powerful and still catchy.
